Dear students of the Economics Department of our university,

Welcome to OSTİM Technical University Department of Economics. Some of you have left behind a challenging university preparation and preference process and are now taking the first steps of a new life; some of you have had a challenging period of preparation for studying in a foreign language; some of you have completed a challenging first year and are starting your second year and you are all very valuable to us. As the Department of Economics, we stand by you with all our facilities to build your future together on solid foundations.

Although we had to start our first semester last year with distance education in the pandemic environment, we remained committed to providing our students with a world-class education. Since we switched to face-to-face education this year, everything will be much easier for all of us. In this context, we offer you modern education and training techniques in our country and in the world by enriching them with innovative methods accompanied by new technologies.

The science of economics basically shows the ways to make the right choice between different preferences and different decision bundles. Considering the globalizing world economy and the conditions of economic relations that require more creative decisions every day, making the right choice requires both theoretical and practical competence at the same time. With our comprehensive curriculum, contemporary and diversified education methods, which are created in line with the vision of our university and department to educate economists who address the real world by combining theory and practice, we provide our students with a very solid foundation in modern economic theories, analytical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills, as well as the opportunity to receive practical training in the business world. Thus, we will work together to raise you as professionals who produce solutions at the practical level with the high level of analysis skills acquired at the theoretical level, and who are sought by both the private sector, the public sector and international organizations.
