The main purpose of the Information Security Technology Program is to train qualified and well-equipped professionals that are needed by companies operating in every field, mainly in the fields of information technologies, information security and computer programming. Graduates can work as system security specialist, IT specialist, data processing specialist, system support specialist, system and network consultant and internet programmer in institutions and organizations that provide internet and e-mail services, multi-user computer systems, computer networks, electronic commerce, and distance education.
Students who successfully complete this programme are entitled to receive an Associate Degree in Information Security Technology.
Assosicate Degree
The process of placing Turkish citizen students in the program is carried out by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). The placement of foreign students in the program is carried out after the equivalence procedures of high school graduations, as well as the fulfillment of the requirements within the scope of the current Turkish higher education and OSTİM Technical University legislation and other lelated legislation. OSTİM Technical University establishes its own selection and placement system within the framework of current legislation when it deems necessary for foreign students.
After the registration of the students, the courses taken by the students in their previous undergraduate or associate degree programs (and officially documented) can be accepted as valid in the relevant program as a result of the evaluation of their scope, content and ECTS by the Department Board and the Faculty Administrative Board.
In order for students to graduate, they must have completed 120 ECTS credits, successfully completed all the course loads in the program they are studying, and have a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.ROGRAM PROFİLİ
The Information Security program aims to provide its graduates with technical and managerial skills in the field of programming by covering practical and theoretical issues. Thus, it aims to enable graduates to pursue careers in computer software development, application, analysis, design, operation and maintenance of information systems of institutions and organizations.
Students graduating from the program can work as system security specialists, data processing specialists, IT specialists, system support specialists, system and network consultants, programmers, etc. in every field where electronic information is valuable, especially in data processing centers and software companies. In addition, the rapid growth of the information and defense sector in Türkiye and in the world will expand the job opportunities of students.
Students can move in to the related undergraduate departments such as Computer Engineering, Computer Education and Instructional Technologies Teaching, Information Systems Engineering, Information Systems and Technologies, Physics, Statistics, Statistics and Computer Sciences, Control and Automation Engineering, Mathematical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Sciences, Meteorological Engineering, Computer Sciences, Aerospace Engineering, Software Engineering and Management Information Systems according to the results of the External Transfer Exam (DGS) administered by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM).
Instructors evaluate the success of students using various assessment methods. According to Ostim Technical University Associate and Undergraduate Education, Teaching and Undergraduate Regulations, DC and DD are considered conditionally pass, FD, FF and NA letter grades are considered unsuccessful.
