Prof. Dr. Yusuf ŞAHİN (Head of Department) Prof. Dr. Yusuf SAHIN completed his B.Sc (1977) and M.Sc degree (1988) at Department of Manufacturing Technology/Engineering of Gazi University in Ankara. He awarded his Ph.D Degree in“Development of metal matrix composites, their mechanical and wear properties” at Department of Mechanical Engineering from University of Aston in Birmingham (UK), 1995, funded by Higher Eduation Council (YOK). He was appointed as an Assistant Professor at Mechanical Education Department in Gazi University, promoted to Associate Professor and Professor in 1996 and 2002, respectively. He then was appointed as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Manufacturing Engineering of Technology Faculty at Gazi University in 2011. He was given lecturer at Department of System/Mechanical Engineering in Turkish Military Academy and Atilim University. Awarded a research by Higher Education Council (YOK) to Virginia Polytechnic University (USA) in 2013 for a period of three months. Prof. Şahin was funded on 8th March 2013 by Turkish Scientific&Technical Council (TUBITAK) for investigation on “Sliding wear of polymeric based advanced composites” at Soete Lab of Mechanical, Construction&Production Engineering Department in Ghent University, Belgium for a period over one year. Prof. Şahin retired from his job at Gazi University in 2018. He was started new post at Mechanical Engineering Department of Near East University on 2nd February 2018. He transferred to Department of Mechanical Engineering of Nişantaşı University on 17 August 2020. He took the project titled “Investigation of manufacturing and mechanical properties of Hybrid composites using Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding” was successfully accompolished. Mechanical Testing Center/Composite Production Laboratory was established for Mechanical Engineering Department. The list of the world’s most influential scientists, created every year by Elsevier and Stanford University (first 2%) was announced. in 1996 – 2020 period. Prof. Şahin was achieved to enter the list in the annual impact category. For 6th / 7th International congress on engineering and technology management took place in istanbul on 2021 / 2022 via online International conference, he was the Congress chairman. He left his job from the university on 27 September 2022. Prof. Şahin started to new job at Mechanical Engineering Department of OSTİM Technical University on 7th October 2022. His research interests included Composite materials, Processing, Mechanical properties, Tribology, Powder metallurgy, Manufacturing processes, Metal/Polymer composites, Experimental design and analysis; Prediction, Artificial Neural Network (ANN). Prof. Dr. Demiral AKBAR Prof. Demiral AKBAR completed his Bachelor's (1993) and Master's (1996) degrees in the field of Plasma and High Energy Physics. In 2006, he received his PhD in Plasma and High Energy Physics from METU. Prof. Akbar has been actively involved in developing and installing many renewable energy and storage systems for national and international companies. In addition, he contributed to many national and international projects: Turkish Accelerator Center Project (TAC), Ankara; Forschungszentrum Julich GmbH-Germany Research Center (TEXTOR); and the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-ROSSENDORF (FEL-Free Electron Laser) are some of the centers where these projects are. Since 2019 he has participated in and integrated coordination teams of R&D projects in collaboration with the industry. Prof. Dr. Birol KILKIŞ Dr. Kilkis received his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering with high honors from Middle East Technical University and graduated in 1972 from von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics in Belgium with Honors. Dr. Kilkis has been working on heat transfer, unified heat transfer theory, high-performance buildings, quantum mechanics, fluid dynamics, heat pumps, energy strategies, hydrogen energy with renewable energy systems, hydrogen cities, 5th generation Net-zero exergy cities, district energy systems, aerodynamics, exergy analysis, combined heat and power, tri-generation, green airports, sustainable aviation, integrated solar PV systems, and energy simulations. He is the co-author of a most recent book on Cogeneration with Renewables. In total, he has published more than 600 papers in several journals and proceedings on a large variety of topics. Since 1972, he has been the principal investigator of several industrial projects, including a NATO Science for Stability project on a de-centralized, co-generating 1.5 MW fluidized-bed power plant. He had been a contractor to DOE, Morgantown Energy Technology Center in West Virginia twice on fluidized bed heat transfer modeling. Between 1998 and 1999, he acted as the project principal for snow melting systems for Air Force bases, heat tracing of fighter jet aircraft during freezing periods, and snow/ice melting of helicopter pads on Navy Vessels. He taught at METU, Gannon University and University of Missouri Rolla in the USA, and Baskent University. Prof. Dr. Hüsnü ÖZKAN Graduated from Physics Department of the Middle East technical University (METU) in 1968. Received MS degree from the same department in 1971. Same year appointed research assistant at the Mechanical Engineering Department of Marquette University (USA) where, he enrolled for the Ph.D. programme. Carried out research studies at Chicago Üniversity and Argonne National Laboratory (USA), awarded Arthur J. Schmitt Foundation Grant for his research achievements. He has received Ph.D. degree from the Material Science Division of MU in 1975. Same year he returned to METU where, he was promoted to associate professor in 1981 and professor in 1989. During 1988-1990, he thought courses and carried out research at MU and at Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU-USA) as a Fulbright professor. Thought courses and carried out research studies during 1990, 1993 and 1999 summer terms at SVSU. At METU, he was a member of the Scientific Research Committee (BAP) and Micro and Nano Technology Graduate Program more than ten years. At the Physics Department, for a long time he was the chairman of the Solid-State Science Division and the Doctoral Committee. He studied the structural, mechanical and electromagnetic properties and their variations with temperature, pressure and radiations for the technologically important materials as the silicates, superconductors, ferromagnets and ultrahigh temperature ceramics. He has established XRD and Superconductivity Laboratories at the Physics Department and played active role for developing the Central Research Laboratory at METU. Thought numerous undergraduate and graduate courses, supervised many M.S and PhD. thesis and received several performance prices. Completed several research projects supported by the national (TÜBİTAK ve BAP) and international (NSF - USA, International Atomic Energy Agency - IAEA) institutions. Worked at METU until 2011, from 2011 to 2023 he was at Istanbul Aydin University (IAU). Appointed to the Engineering Faculty of Ostim Technical University February 2024. Published 77 scientific articles in high rated SCI journals in addition of the numerous national and international scientific conference presentations, His papers have been cited by about 1500 research articles and books. Prof. Dr. Halil Rıdvan ÖZ Prof. Dr. Halil Rıdvan Öz received his bachelor's degree from the department of mechanical engineering at Middle East Technical University in 1992, his master's and doctorate degrees in machine theory and dynamics field from Celal Bayar University in 1995 and 1999 respectively. He investigated nonlinear vibrations of curved beams and vibrations of axially moving continua in his graduate studies. He received his associate professor degree in 2000. He conducted research on mucus clearance in respiratory airways at UNR in USA with a TÜBİTAK NATO B1 scholarship. He stayed at the same university for 2 years and taught various courses. Later, he returned to Turkey and worked at Gaziantep, Fatih, Üsküdar, Istanbul Aydın and Iğdır universities, respectively. His research interests include mechanical vibrations, perturbation techniques, differential equations, nonlinear dynamics, finite element analysis, signal processing, artificial intelligence, non-Euclidean geometry, and university competence analysis. He worked as a principal investigator or researcher in TUBITAK, KOSGEB, ISTKA and BAP supported projects. He provided management and R&D consultancy to many companies. |

Prof. Dr. Harun BİLİRGEN Prof. Dr. Harun Bilirgen pursued his Master's and Doctoral studies at the Energy Research Center of Lehigh University in the USA. His research focused on experimental and numerical investigations of two-phase gas-particle flows in pneumatic conveying systems. He then carried out postdoctoral research in the Chemical Engineering Department at Lehigh University from 2000 to 2002. From 2002 to 2013, he worked as a Principal Research Scientist at the Energy Research Center of Lehigh University's Mechanical Engineering Department. He conducted research on thermal efficiency enhancement, combustion and process optimization, emission reduction and compliance, CO2 capture and storage, waste heat/water recovery and integration of wastes into industrial facilities, algae production from waste water and flue gas using photo-bioreactors, coal drying and beneficiation, and design and optimization using CFD modeling. He served as project leader and team member in various applied projects in the US, Turkey, China, Mexico, and Canada. During his tenure at Lehigh University, he had the opportunity to present papers at numerous international conferences, publish articles, and obtain eight US patents. In late 2013, with the intention of transferring the knowledge, know-how, and experience he had acquired abroad to his home country, Prof. Dr. Bilirgen returned to Turkey and founded an R&D company that specializes in energy and environmental technologies. The company has conducted applied R&D projects in Turkey, the US, Mexico, and Indonesia. In recent years, his work has focused on renewable energy, and he has been conducting TÜBİTAK-supported studies on the design and implementation of a micro-hydro turbine. |

Prof. Dr. Kadir AYDIN
Prof. Dr. Kadir Aydın was born on 24 October 1962 in the town of Dereçine/Afyonkarahisar. He completed his primary, secondary and industrial vocational high school education in Akşehir/Konya. He subsequently obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree from Çukurova University's Mechanical Engineering Department in 1983, followed by a Master of Science (MSc) degree in 1986. In 1984, he assumed the role of Research Assistant at the Mechanical Engineering Department of Çukurova University. Following the completion of his MSc, he was appointed as a Lecturer in the same department in 1986. In 1988, he was awarded a scholarship by the YÖK to pursue a PhD in the field of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Liverpool, which he completed in 1993. He then served as Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Çukurova University between 1993-1995, Associate Professor between 1995-2001, Professor between 2001-2022, and Professor in the Department of Automotive Engineering at Çukurova University between 2022-2025. In 1998, he conducted research at the Technical Combustion Institute of the University of Hannover in Germany with a NATO scholarship. He voluntarily retired on 17 February 2025, and subsequently assumed the role of full-time Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Ostim Technical University. In addition to his administrative duties in public institutions such as Çukurova University, TÜBİTAK, and TENMAK, Prof. Dr. Kadir Aydın served as the Chairman of the Board and General Manager of the Çukurova Technology Development Zone (Çukurova Teknokent) between 2013-2020. His research interests include, but are not limited to, the following: internal combustion engines, vehicle technology, combustion, hybrid and electric vehicles, alternative, renewable and green fuels (hydrogen, biodiesel, bioethanol, biogas, green methanol etc.) and additive/hybrid manufacturing. In addition to his registered patents, he has over 300 published national and international books, articles and papers. Assist. Prof. Dr. Akif HACINECİPOĞLU Dr. Akif Hacınecipoğlu received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering at Middle East Technical University (METU) in 2009. After graduation, he worked as teaching and research assistant in the same department from 2010 until 2018. He received his M.Sc. degree with a thesis on development of a tele-operated semi-autonomous ground vehicle in 2012 and his Ph.D. degree with development of predictive human-aware navigation systems for mobile robots in 2019 from Mechanical Engineering department of METU. He founded Milvus Robotics Ltd in 2011 where, with his co-founders, he developed Turkey’s first autonomous mobile robots for material handling needs in factories and warehouses. He also worked as a researcher and project manager in different robotics projects funded by TUBITAK and various associations. His main research areas are robotics, robot vision, autonomous systems, path planning and navigation. |

Assist. Prof. Dr. Hikmet BAL Dr. Hikmet Bal graduated with bachelor degree from Mechanical Engineering Department of Gazi University Engineering Faculty in 2002. He gained his MSc degree in 2006 in the same department with a study on vision system. In 2019, he received his PhD degree in Mechanical Dynamics and Theory field by his study on the vibration behavior of shaft-bearing systems from Mechanical Engineering Department of Gazi University. He gained a multidisciplinary work experience by working as a technical staff and project engineer on information technology systems and HVAC projects in government and private sector for a long time. He worked as a tactical unmanned air vehicle operating technical staff and expert engineer in government and private sector as well. He received his M.Sc. degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Greenwich in 2016 with a thesis on Rapid Prototyping/manufacturing of Product Assemblies, and his Ph.D. degree with a thesis on Laser Polishing of Part Surfaces Produced by Additive Manufacturing in 2022 from Gazi University Mechanical Engineering. He also worked as a researcher at Gazi University in the field of Additive Manufacturing within the scope of YÖK 100/2000 Ph.D. project between 2017-2022. Assist. Prof. Dr. Pelin Tören ÖZGÜN Pelin Tören Özgün (PTÖ) was born in Izmir. She graduated in 2005, from Izmir Atatürk High School (est. 1888), which is located in Izmir. PTÖ received her BSc degree with high honors from Chemical Engineering from Izmir Institute of Technology in 2011. Afterwards, she conducted her PhD studies on silicon-based optical microresonators for label-free biosensing applications. In 2016, she received her PhD degree from National Nanotechnology Research Center (UNAM) at Ihsan Dogramaci Bilkent University (Ankara, Türkiye), in Materials Science and Nanotechnology. Within the same year, she started working as a Post-Doctoral Researcher in Joanneum Research under Materials Institute - for Surface Technologies and Photonics - (Weiz, Austria). Following 2018, she continued working in Joanneum Research as a Research Associate until 2021. During her years in Joanneum Research, she contributed to the scientific research in various European Union projects, which mainly focused on the pilot-line development and production of disposable and polymer-based, fluidic in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) chips for DNA/protein detection purposes. One of those Horizon2020 projects (R2R Biofluidics) led by Joanneum Research, received Austrian Fast Forward award in 2018. In addition to that, with her co-workers, she published an article, which describes successfully the multiplexed DNA detection of the IVD chips produced via the pilot-line, in Lab on a Chip Journal (2020). The study was featured as „Inner Front Cover“ and high-lighted in Issue 22 of the journal. The same study received „Best Performance (Paper)“ award in the 10th Internal Joanneum Research Conference (i.e., „Zukunftskonferenz“) in Graz city in 2021. In September 2021, PTÖ returned back to home. Since June 2022, she has been working as an Assistant Professor in Ostim Technical University. PTÖ authored/co-authored ten scientific publications in high-ranking, international peer-reviewed journals. Among these scientific publications, there is also a review article on microresonators, which was published in Lab on a Chip Journal. To this day, PTÖ also attended leading national and international scientific conferences as a speaker. The research interests of PTÖ mainly focuses on Point-of-Care Diagnostic Systems, Lab-on-Chip Technologies, Biosensors, (Nano)Biomaterials, Biomedical Device Technologies, Photonic Sensors and Optical Microresonators. Assist. Prof. Dr. Besim BARANOĞLU Dr. Besim Baranoğlu recieved his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering at METU (in 1994). He then completed his M.Sc. in the same department (and university) in 1996. Dr. Baranoğlu received his Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences Dept. of METU in 2003 with his thesis titled “The use of Dual Reciprocity Boundary Element Method in Thermoelasticity and Thermoviscoelasticity”. Dr. Baranoğlu joined Baskent University department of Industrial Engineering (and later transferred to Mechanical Engineering) in 2003. Within the year 2007 he started working with the Manufacturing Engineering Department of Atılım University. He assumed the positions of founding executive board member and later vice president of the executive board of Metal Forming Center of Excellence founded in Atılım University in 2010. He was assigned as the president of Metal Forming Center of Excellence in 2017. Dr. Baranoğlu founded the Novumek Engineering Ltd. in 2013 which later renamed as Novumek Technolgy Corp. in 2021. Dr. Baranoğlu joined the Mechanical Engineering Dept. of Ostim Technical University in 2022. He participated in many projects supported under TUBITAK (1001, 1005, 1007, 1501, 1507, 1505, 1707), KOSGEB, SANTEZ, SAYP, EU-7th Framework programme and IPA as project manager, researcher and consultant. Dr. Baranoğlu is currently an academic consultant with the Prota – Technology Production Workshop which is founded within the OSTIM Technopark. His research interest lie in the fields of numerical analysis (boundary element method and finite element method), mechanics of continuous media, manufacturing methods and simulation in manufacturing methods (esp. in metal forming). Prof. Dr. Yunus A. ÇENGEL Yunus Çengel is Professor Emeritus at the University of Nevada, Reno, USA and the founding dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Adnan Menderes University in Aydin, Turkey. He received his Ph. D. in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University in USA. Before joining ADU in 2012, he held the position of the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Yildiz Technical University YTU and as Advisor to President at Scientific and Technological Research Council TUBITAK on international cooperations. He also served as the advisor to several government organizations and private companies on energy efficiency, energy policies, and education reform. Prof. Dr. Cemal BASARAN Dr. Cemal Basaran is a Professor in the Dept. of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York. He specializes in computational and theoretical mechanics. He has authored 160 + peer-reviewed journal publications, a textbook on the Unified Mechanics Theory, (second edition, 2023, ©Springer-Nature,) and several book chapters. His research focuses on the development of the Unified Mechanics Theory, which is the unification of the laws of Newton and the laws of thermodynamics at the ab-initio level. Some of his awards include the 1997 US Navy ONR Young Investigator Award, and the 2011 American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) EEPD, Excellence in Mechanics Award. He is a Fellow of the ASME. He has served and continues to serve on the editorial board of many peer-reviewed international journals. He has been the primary dissertation advisor to 25 Ph.D. students. His research has been funded by National Science Foundation, US Navy, US Department of Defense, State of New York, and many industrial sponsors including but not limited to Intel, Motorola, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, Delphi, DuPont, Texas Instruments, Micron, Tyco Electronics, Analog Devices, and many others. Prof. Dr. Yahya KARA Dr. Kara earned a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Ataturk University in 2016, MSc. in Mechanical Engineering Modelling from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 2018, and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 2022. Dr. Kara has a proven track record of success developing polymeric nano-/submicron fibers, nanocomposites, and fiber-reinforced polymer composites for various engineering applications. He published highly impacted articles, books, chapters, and patents. Dr. Kara has many years of experience in industry-oriented research and development engineering projects. Assist. Prof. Dr. Celal Sami TÜFEKCİ Dr. TÜFEKCİ, who began his professional career as a Project Engineer at the Research Center of Pitney Bowes Inc., the world's leading communication and document creation company located in Shelton, Connecticut, USA, has made patented contributions to high-performance motion control. Serving as an expert in Mechatronics and Control System Design, he has provided consultancy for numerous projects and various companies. Following his role as a Satellite Design Expert for TÜRKSAT 3A (Launch/Ariane-5: June 12, 2008, Kourou, French Guiana) satellite production and technology transfer team at Thales Alenia Space (Cannes, France), he assumed the position of Director of National Communication Satellites Program at TÜRKSAT (Ankara, Turkey). Subsequently, he worked as a Chief Researcher at TÜBİTAK Space Technologies Research Institute (Ankara, Turkey), contributing to the RASAT (Launch/Dnepr: August 17, 2011, Yasny, Russia) and GÖKTÜRK-2 (Launch/LM2D: December 18, 2012, Jiuquan, China) Earth observation satellite projects. In his academic career, he held positions such as Research Fellow at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Troy, NY, USA); Deputy Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Connecticut (Storrs, Connecticut, USA); Lecturer at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (Oshawa, Ontario, Canada), Gazi University (Ankara, Turkey), and Atılım University (Ankara, Turkey); and most recently, he served as a Faculty Member and Center Research Laboratory Director in the Department of Mechatronics Engineering at Yıldız Technical University (Istanbul, Turkey). Starting as the Head of Space Department at the Presidency of Defense Industries (Ankara, Turkey), Dr. TÜFEKCİ led the high-resolution GÖKTÜRK-1 (Launch/Vega: December 5, 2016, Kourou, French Guiana) Satellite Program and Satellite Launch Programs. Prof. Dr. Enes TAMDOĞAN Enes Tamdoğan obtained his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Uludağ University in 2009 and completed his M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering at Brandenburg University of Technology, Cottbus in 2011 with his thesis on “Numerical Study On Swirling Flows in a Pulverized Oxy-Coal Burner (Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Technology)”. There, he also focused on sustainable energy supply techniques beside of CCS Technologies. Then, he pursued his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering at Özyeğin University with research interests of cooling technologies (Direct-Indirect Liquid Cooling, etc) in electronics, heat transfer on structured surfaces, CFD analysis and experimental studies for single and multi phase Natural&Forced Convection problems. Assist. Prof. Dr. Tolga DURSUN Dr. Tolga Dursun received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering at Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1996. He received his M.Sc. degree with a thesis on correlations of ultrasonic sound attenuation and velocity with yield strength, fracture toughness and Young’s modulus in 1999 and his Ph.D. degree with a thesis on the failure analysis of bolted laminated composite plates in 2006 from Mechanical Engineering department of Gazi University. He has been working on R&D projects at defense industry for 25 years.
